TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF- WHO YOU ARE, WHERE YOU’RE FROM AND WHAT SETS YOUR SOUL ON FIRE?
Hello there! I am a British model currently based in Sydney. I was working over here when Covid hit and now my two week trip has turned into three years of falling in love with Australia. My passion is acting. The first read of a play/ screenplay sets my soul on fire.
YOU RECENTLY SHOT OUR ALCHEMY CAMPAIGN AT A GORGEOUS PROPERTY NESTLED AWAY IN THE BYRON HINTERLAND. CAN YOU TELL US YOUR HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS EXPERIENCE AND HOW THE DAY UNFOLDED?
A highlight for me has to be the team. I might not be smiling in the shots but I can safely say between every take I was laughing with the crew. We actually ended up shooting some of the campaign in-between rain showers (I know right, you’d never know), yet the moral of the shoot didn’t falter once! When you have a fun team, a stunning location and a bold & beautiful collection nothing can stop you from creating magic.
WHICH ALCHEMY PIECE CAN YOU SEE YOURSELF LIVING IN THE MOST?
The Palazzo Pants were a personal favourite of mine. Closely followed by the Elixir blouse of course - an iconic duo!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
I’m usually a casual/ sporty vibe day to day. In the UK, a t-shirt and lived in denim was a go-to. Out here I can definitely say I style around swimwear and sportswear - by night I am a fan of cut out maxis.
CAN YOU DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF SAMMY ALLSOP?
A typical day for me can go one of two ways. On a shoot day, it’s usually an early start off to location followed by makeup prep, a strong coffee and briefs with the team. Then once the shoot is finished I head home for an ocean swim with my dog, Peach. On a non-shoot day, I always try to start the day with a run or pilates followed by an ocean ice bath. Then I will plan the rest of the day around castings or script prepping for auditions.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MODELLING AND DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS OR TRICKS FOR GALS TRYING TO GET INTO THE FASHION INDUSTRY?
I started modelling part time once I was scouted in Manchester, aged 17/18. I continued this through university and went full time in London after my degree. My advice to anyone wanting to start modelling is that you don’t need to invest in a portfolio to get representation. Agencies just want to see clean and clear photos of you alone. Once signed agents will then help you build a portfolio. So really all you have to do is apply!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS?
Had to get my boyfriend’s opinion on this one. Ambitious, bubbly and won’t stop talking… See I can’t even get it in three words!
YOU’RE CONSTANTLY TRAVELING FOR WORK, WHICH DESTINATION HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE SO FAR AND WHY?
My first shoot was for Dickies in El Rosario, Spain! This was my first shoot abroad and the entire campaign was shot on film which I loved.
FASHION AND MODELLING ASIDE, YOU’RE ALSO A TALENTED SINGER AND ACTRESS! HOW DO YOU JUGGLE THESE CREATIVE PURSUITS AND WHICH ONE DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST?
Ah, thank you very much! I’m not sure the neighbours agree with my noisy singing haha. I love modelling and I’m very grateful for the opportunities and people I meet doing it. However, acting is always something that has been close to my heart. Luckily the three facets fit together well, all having a sense of performance. So as long as I’m ok with script learning on the go, juggling is possible!
YOU RECENTLY STARRED IN THE THOR MOVIE, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT THIS EXCITING OPPORTUNITY AND YOUR EXPERIENCE WORKING ALONGSIDE AUSSIE ICON CHRIS HEMSWORTH?
This was an incredible opportunity. I can tell you, Chris lived up to the Aussie Icon title. He was one of the most down to earth actors on set.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR SAMMY ALLSOP?
There are some auditions in the works so we will have to wait and see. Also hopefully a trip to the Bunjalung Country to see you all again soon!
